Welcome to Stroke and Wellbeing Advisory Group

Stroke is the second leading cause of death globally as of 2019 and the fifth leading cause of death and disability in the United States. We aim to create a community of stroke survivors and caregivers to better understand how people recover after a stroke. We want to study the non-medical factors that impact people’s health after a stroke, specifically how wellbeing changes once a stroke has happened. If we understand how to help improve wellbeing after stroke, we hope to design new treatments and help doctors and nurses who care for stroke survivors improve their practices.

We have been recruiting stroke survivors and caregivers to take part in this study. Our team spans 3 universities (MGH/Harvard, Yale University, and the University of San Francisco) and is supported by the American Heart Association.
